Serbia gets new beach volleyball champions
This year’s Vip Beach Masters 2012 – Serbian Beach Volleyball Championship, organized for the fifth year in a row by the Vip mobile company and the Serbian Volleyball Federation, was finished today, with a final tournament at Ada Ciganlija in Belgrade. After two and a half months of competing and a number of matches with uncertain outcomes, the champion title was won by men’s double of Antonic and Galesev and by woman’s double of Egic and Frajtovic.

The Belgrade tournament was won by team Basta/Tesic in a match against Antonic and Galesev, with a result of 2:0 (21:16, 21:15). Nevertheless, the duo Antonic/Galesev triumphed in the championship title battle, due to the highest number of accumulated points in the general classification of this year’s Championship, which they gathered during the previous two months by winning as much as four out of seven national league tournaments. This year’s champion title in the women’s category was won in a final match at Ada Ciganlija in front of a large crowd, when the pair Egic/Frajtovic defeated the duo Sevarika/Skaric with the result of 2:1 (21:11, 18:21, 15:13). The third place in the men’s category was taken by the team Tatic/Simeunovic which overcome the couple Kikovic/Nikolic with a result of 0:2 (17:21, 9:21), whereas the female volleyball players Matic and Medan overtook the team Stojanovic/Komlenovic, therefore winning the third place in the women’s category. The best teams from both categories were rewarded by valuable checks from a fund of EUR 11.500, provided by the Vip mobile company for season 2012.

Vip Beach Masters 2012 – Serbian Beach Volleyball Championship was this year organized for the first time in as much as seven cities in Serbia – Kragujevac, Kladovo, Kanjiza, Bac, Backa Palanka, Novi Sad and Belgrade. The season was complemented by the CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship in Novi Sad Masters 2012, which was once again organized in our country after great last year’s success, gathering the best men’s teams from the old continent.

Owing to the Vip mobile company and the Serbian Volleyball Federation, this year again the youngest ones had the opportunity to discover and develop their own potentials for this Olympic sport in a free volleyball school run by the legendary volleyball player Vanja Grbic. An amazing number of 2.050 children aged below 14 from seven Serbian cities went through this school, out of which the best had an opportunity to showcase their obtained knowledge at the main court of the Belgrade tournament.

Numerous partners of the Vip mobile company have provided their support to this unique sports event and shown that they recognize the importance of the development of beach volleyball in Serbia and investing into professional sportsmanship. Among them are ZTE, Hypo Alpe Adria bank, Aqua Viva, DaCapo, Red Bull, as well the cities in which the tournaments were held via their public enterprises, and the Wiener Stadtische company which insured the entire tournament.
